In this post, I’m sharing my weekly freezer cooking plan for expecting moms that can help you have plenty of meals ready!
I first shared this post when I was expecting my first baby, and was getting the freezer stocked with easy freezer meals. I did this again with my second baby, and it’s so helpful to have these meals ready to go during this busy season!
Of course, you can follow this freezer cooking plan anytime – expecting or not! It’s a great way to slowly build up a freezer meal stash, perfect for busy seasons!
Are you an expecting mom wanting to get some freezer meals made for when baby arrives? It can seem like a big task to take on, so I decided to break it up into a weekly freezer cooking plan that I can work on little by little.
Weekly Freezer Cooking Plan for Expecting Moms
During these last couple of months of pregnancy, I don’t have a ton of energy and my ankles swell if I’m on my feet too long.
But, I knew I wanted to stock our freezer with as many freezer meals as I could before our baby arrives. So, I decided to break up my list into 6 weeks of little mini freezer cooking sessions.
This way, I can tackle all of the freezer meals at a slower pace and still have a freezer full of food when baby comes.
I’ll show you my freezer cooking plan and how you can make your own weekly freezer cooking plan too – perfect for expecting moms, or anyone who wants to slowly build a freezer meal stockpile!
Real Quick: Be sure to grab this free printable of my top 10 favorite freezer meals and the recipes for each!
My Weekly Freezer Cooking Plan:
First, I made a list of all of the freezer meals I wanted to have. This will look different for everyone based on your preferences and what you like to eat.
Think about the meals you love to eat, what provides you with good nutrition, meals that comfort you, and that you can easily make and freeze.
I listed our favorite meals, and meals that I know will freeze well. And I broke it down into different categories based on the meat and type of food.
Here’s my full freezer meal list:
Breakfast:
- Sausage patties
- Muffins
- Breakfast burritos
- Sausage and cheese English muffins
Casseroles:
- Poppyseed Chicken
- Chicken and Rice
- Chicken, Broccoli, Cheese, and Rice
Beef Dinners:
- Taco Meat
- Spaghetti Sauce
- Chili
- Burger patties
Chicken Dinners:
- BBQ Chicken
- Italian Chicken
- Honey Mustard Chicken
- Teriyaki Chicken
- Chicken Fajitas
Soups:
- Tortilla or Taco Soup
- Chicken Noodle Soup
- Potato Soup
- Beef Vegetable Soup
Other:
- Energy Balls
- Cookie Dough
- Shredded Chicken
Week by Week Plan:
Now that I had my full list of meals I wanted to make, I broke everything down into a week by week plan.
Think about your due date if you are expecting, and how soon before then you want to have these meals made and work backwards. You may not want to make the meals too early, because you might start eating them before baby gets here!
Week 1 Freezer Cooking Plan:
I decided to start with the beef meals. It’s a lot easier to use just one meat at a time.
- Burger patties
- Taco meat
- Chili
- Spaghetti Sauce
Here’s what I did for this freezer cooking session:
- Made burger patties and placed 2 in freezer bags.
- Browned ground beef for the taco meat, chili, and spaghetti sauce.
- Made chili and added some ground beef.
- Made spaghetti sauce and added some ground beef.
- Used the remaining ground beef to make taco meat.
Use your favorite recipes for these meals!
Week 2 Freezer Cooking Plan:
This week, I planned to make the 3 casseroles.
- Poppyseed Chicken
- Chicken and Rice
- Chicken, Broccoli, Cheese, and Rice
Again, use your favorite casserole recipes!
You can boil several chicken breasts (or cook them with water or broth in the slow cooker), and shred them in your mixer to quickly make shredded chicken.
You could also freeze some plain shredded chicken for burritos, quesadillas, or to put on salads.
Here is my easy casserole freezer cooking plan if you want to follow it.
Week 3 Freezer Cooking Plan:
This week, I wanted to tackle the chicken dinners.
These are all super easy and quick! I don’t cook anything – I just add chicken breasts, tenders, or diced chicken to freezer bags with the other ingredients or mixes.
Here’s what I made this week:
- BBQ Chicken (slice chicken tenders, and place in a bag with BBQ sauce – grill or bake in oven)
- Italian Chicken (slice chicken tenders, and place in a freezer bag with Italian dressing – grill or cook in skillet)
- Honey Mustard Chicken (Slice small, thin chicken pieces – slider size – and place in bag with honey mustard. Cook in skillet or grill and serve on slider buns.)
- Chicken Teriyaki (Dice chicken and place in bag with soy sauce, sesame seeds, and green onions. Serve with microwave rice and steamed veggies.)
- Chicken Fajitas (Dice chicken and place in bag with fajita seasoning and sliced bell peppers. Grill in skillet and serve on warm tortillas.)
Week 4 Freezer Cooking Plan:
This week, I decided to make the soups.
- Tortilla or Taco Soup
- Chicken Noodle Soup
- Potato Soup
- Beef Vegetable Soup
Use your favorite soup recipes! I think soup will be so nice for a warm and easy dinner or lunch with a busy schedule.
Week 5 Freezer Cooking Plan:
This week, I focused on breakfast foods. Breakfast freezer meals are so nice to have to get in a good meal without spending time in the kitchen or doing a lot of dishes.
Here’s what I made for breakfast freezer meals:
- Sausage Patties (cooked sausage patties and put 2 in freezer bags)
- Muffins (boxed muffin mix, baked in silicone reusable muffin cups, and frozen 2 in a freezer bag)
- Breakfast burritos
- Sausage and cheese English muffin sandwiches
Think about what foods you like to eat for breakfast, and what will give you nutrition to start your day.
Week 6 Freezer Cooking Plan:
For the last week, I made no bake energy balls, cookie dough, and some plain shredded chicken.
I think the energy balls will be a nice treat to give me some nutrition, and the cookie dough will be nice to have for a quick baked treat.
The plain shredded chicken will be used for quesadillas, nachos, or to add to salads.
That’s my weekly freezer cooking plan to get our freezer stocked before our baby arrives.
Get your freezer stocked without spending a whole day in the kitchen by breaking it down into mini weekly freezer cooking sessions.
Make a list of the freezer meals you want to have made, categorized by meat or type of meal. Then, break those down into weekly mini sessions to easily tackle a few at a time.
I hope this helps you get your freezer stocked up, whether you are pregnant and preparing for busy days ahead, or just want to have some easy freezer meals to grab!
