Recently, I have been wanting to update my kitchen décor to be more personalized to our taste. We love our little mini farm, and I love decorating with rustic farmhouse style décor.
I tackled a couple small, super easy & frugal décor updates this weekend. And I wanted to show you guys how easy these mini projects were!
Easy & Frugal Kitchen Décor Updates
The two mini projects I tackled were:
- Adding vinyl stickers to our flour, sugar, and tea canisters for a farmhouse look.
- Decorating an empty wall with a small gallery wall.
Supplies used:
- Yard sale canisters
- Black vinyl
- Barnwood
- Metal pig sign
- Rustic hook
Project #1: Add vinyl stickers to canisters to add farmhouse décor.
- Make vinyl stickers using Cricut Design Space (or simply buy scrapbook stickers).
- Add stickers to canisters.

Project #2: Decorating an empty wall with a small gallery wall.
I had everything already made except this new pig sign, so I finally got that made and hung everything up!
Go here to get the step by step tutorial to make the “Home is where the Herd is” sign.
To make the pig sign:
- Cut a piece of barnwood.
- Add nails for the pig sign to hook onto.
- Screw the hook into the wood.
- Paint the screws to match your hook (optional, but I think it looks much better).
- Add picture hangers to the back to hang.

It doesn’t take a lot of time or money to create a home you love. These two easy and super frugal kitchen décor updates took just a few minutes each.
I love the way they add to the charm and character of our home.
