Easy DIY Valentine’s Day Shirt for Baby
I had a hand me down onesie that was perfect for turning into a Valentine’s Day outfit for my daughter. This helped me keep this project super frugal!
I just used the hand me down bodysuit and iron on material that I already had on hand, so it didn’t cost me anything to make.
See if you have a plain shirt or onesie you can use to make a budget friendly Valentine’s Day outfit.
Here’s the supplies you’ll need.
Supplies:
Cricut cutting machine – I used my Cricut Joy
Iron on material – I used black and red glitter.
Directions:
1. Open Cricut Design Space and start a new project.
Select the New Project icon and turn on your Cricut machine.
2. Add your black text.
I made the words “My First” and “Day” black.
3. Click Make It and select your material and mat option.
Make sure to select mirror on for an iron on image.
4. Place your black iron on glossy side down on the cutting mat.
5. Press Go.
Load the mat into the machine, press go, and let your machine do all the cutting.
6. Weed the excess material.
Remove the excess material from around your design.
7. Add the red text and hearts.
I made the word “Valentine’s” and the hearts red glitter. The font for “Valentine’s” is Babette with a smaller letter spacing.
I found the hearts image from the images tab in Design Space. There are a lot to choose from.
8. Click Make It and select your material and mat option.
Make sure to select mirror on for the iron on image.
9. Apply the red glitter iron on material glossy side down on the mat, load into the machine, and press go.
10. Weed the excess material.
Remove the excess material from around your designs.
11. Heat your heat press.
Get your heat press warmed up. Check the recommended settings for your machine. I set mine to 320 degrees.
12. Heat the shirt.
Place the shirt on the heat press to warm up and smooth out any wrinkles before adding the designs.
13. Apply the iron on designs to the shirt and press.
Place your iron on designs on the shirt and press with your heat press. Check the recommended settings for your machine. I pressed my shirt for 30 seconds.
14. Let cool and remove the clear backing.
Remove the clear backing after the shirt cools to reveal your new design!
This was such a fun, easy, and frugal Cricut project that is perfect for beginners!
You can easily and quickly create your own DIY Valentine’s Day shirt for baby using a shirt you already have and some iron on material.
I love to create sweet little outfits for different holidays, and using a shirt we already had make this very frugal.
Have fun creating your own DIY Valentine’s Day outfit for your child!
