Easy DIY Handmade Cards: How to Make Homemade Cards with the Cricut Joy
Making handmade cards has never been simpler! You will impress your friends and family with these amazing DIY cards! And they are super fun to make!
You only need a few supplies to get started, too!
Supplies Needed:
Insert Cards – there are a lot of fun color options!
Cricut Pens – lots of fun colors!
Starter Tool Set – optional, but makes the projects easier and quicker!
Directions:
1. Open Cricut Design Space and select New Project.
2. Choose a design from the Projects tab or create your own with text and images.
For beginners, I would start with ready to go projects from the Projects tab on the left. There are tons to choose from and they are ready to cut.
If you have Cricut Access, these are all included for free.
3. Click Make It and make your selections when prompted.
Once you are happy with your design, select Make It.
Select the card mat option and an insert card for the material. Also, note if you need to have the blade or a pen to draw or cut the design.
4. Load your card onto the card mat.
Open up the card and slip the back under the flap on the card mat, and line up the front with the grid on the card mat.
5. Load the mat into the Cricut Joy machine and press Go.
Let your machine do all the cutting and writing. This is my favorite thing to watch.
Note if you have drawing and cutting layers in your design, you will be prompted to change the blade and pen out.
6. Unload the mat from the machine and weed your design.
The excess material should stick to the card mat. You can use the Cricut tools to scrape the excess material from the mat, and use a weeder to get any fine pieces left in the design out.
7. Slide the insert card in the corners.
I love to choose a contrasting color for the insert, and you can also add a glitter insert for a fun design.
8. Make more!
You can make cards for all occasions and they are so fun and quick to make with the Cricut Joy.
Check out all the insert card colors and options here. These would be fun for baby and bridal showers, too!
I made a fun thank you card and two Christmas cards. Both designs are available with Cricut Access in the Projects tab.
There are so many fun DIY handmade cards you can make with your Cricut Joy. I love the ready to go designs included in the Cricut Design Space program, or you can make your own custom designs.
Have fun making your own DIY homemade cards with the Cricut Joy!
