Looking for a fun and easy DIY baby Halloween onesie project? I just made this cute shirt for my baby girl and today I’m sharing the step by step tutorial!
I’m so excited about this new project I just finished. I wanted to make my daughter a cute little onesie for Halloween, and it was so easy with my Cricut!
This project took about 20 minutes to complete, and I only needed a few materials.
I’ll show you how I made this cute Halloween baby onesie and how you can make one, too.
DIY Baby Halloween Onesie – Cricut Beginner Tutorial
This was such an easy and simple Cricut project and I love the way it turned out!
If you need an outfit for baby’s first Halloween, this would be a perfect project!
Supplies Needed:
Cricut machine (I used my Cricut Joy)
Cutting mat (If you use Smart Iron On material, you don’t need a mat)
Accent color iron on (I had dark purple on hand, so I used that. Orange would be cute, too!)
Directions:
1. Open Cricut Design Space.
2. Find the My First Boo project in the Projects tab.
If you have Cricut Access, this design is included.
If you don’t have Cricut Access you can get it here or download the design as a one time charge.
3. Click customize.
I love using these ready to go designs! They make it so quick and easy!
4. Resize the design to fit your bodysuit.
I made my design about 4 inches wide. You can use the bottom right icon to drag and resize the image. There is a built in ruler to use for sizing, as well.
5. Click Make It.
6. Place the black iron on material on the cutting mat.
Note that if you use Cricut Smart Iron On material, you don’t have to use the mat.
7. Make your selections.
You will need to choose if you are using a mat or not, and the material you are using. I selected Every Day Iron On. These are both questions that will pop up and prompt you to make a selection.
Then, make sure the mirror is on for both designs. This option is on the left hand side.
8. Load the mat and press go.
The Cricut will cut the first image.
9. Unload the mat and remove the first design.
10. Place the accent color iron on material on the cutting mat.
Make sure the mirror is on for this design, too! Press go and the Cricut will cut the second design.
11. Unload the mat and remove the second design.
12. Weed both designs using the weeder tool.
You can pull the iron on material from the plastic starting in the corner, and slowly pulling around the design.
Use the weeder tool to help you get started and to get the smallest pieces.
13. Heat your heat press to 300 degrees, or to your manufacturer’s specifications.
14. Place your designs on the bodysuit.
Make sure the plastic material doesn’t overlap.
This material can easily be moved if you aren’t happy with where you place it first.
15. Press your design on your heat press for 30 seconds.
I use the protector sheet that came with my heat press on top of the iron on design.
16. Let the bodysuit cool for a minute.
After you remove the onesie from the heat press, you can let it cool down a minute before you remove the plastic layer.
17. Remove the plastic slowly.
Although there are a lot of steps in this tutorial, the whole project goes very quickly.
I love using designs that are already uploaded in Cricut Access. It makes it so much easier and faster to make a project!
There are so many different designs in Cricut Access, from holiday projects to custom cards to shirt designs to party decor and so much more.
