How does the No Spend Weekend Challenge work?
First, we need to schedule the no spend weekend. Look in your planner, and find a weekend that works for you.
Now that you have a date for your no spend weekend, we need a few rules.
Rule #1: Don’t buy in preparation for the no spend weekend.
If you plan a no spend weekend, and then buy things to get ready for it, that defeats the purpose. Don’t stock up on food or anything to get through the weekend.
Rule #2: Keep up with your savings.
To know how much you are saving by having a no spend weekend, you will need some way of keeping up with your savings. There are a few ways to do this.
You can look at last weekend’s spending, add it all up, and figure that is how much you will save.
Or, you can keep track of everything you were tempted to buy or spend money on during your no spend weekend. The total would be the amount saved.
Rule #3: Make your own rules!
Each family is different, and your rules will be different, too. Decide as a family what your rules are. Can you spend money if you need gas in the car, or no?
Ok, now we have an idea of how the no spend weekend will work. Let’s get to some fun, free things to do during your no spend weekend! I think you will love these fun activities and the money you can save!
