Looking for the best fall and autumn themed books for toddlers, preschoolers, and young kids? In this post, I’m sharing our favorite fall books to teach your little kids about the changing seasons!
I love to find fun books for different topics we are learning about in our homeschool preschool.
Books are a great way to teach new topics, and expand on your preschool lessons. They give little kids a visual to what they are learning, help with vocabulary, letter sounds, pre reading skills, and they are so fun to enjoy reading together.
Suffice it to say, we are all about reading and enjoy books together in our home!

The 30 Best Fall & Autumn Books for Toddlers and Preschoolers
1. Apples and Pumpkins
Up first is my very favorite fall book for preschool age kids – Apples and Pumpkins by Anne Rockwell.
This sweet, simple book shows and explains many activities people enjoy in the fall season.
Apples and Pumpkins follows a young girl going to a pumpkin patch, an apple orchard, and enjoying Halloween trick or treating.
I really love the simple, more realistic pictures and the to-the-point writing – it’s easy for young kids to understand.

2. I Love Fall!: A Touch-and-Feel Board Book
This is my 2 year old’s favorite touch and feel board book!
This wonderful book has colorful illustrations and fun textures to feel on each page, like a wooly sweater, a smooth basket, or crunchy leaves.
If you are looking for sweet, fall books for babies – this one is perfect!
3. We’re Going on a Leaf Hunt by Steve Metzger
This is a fun classic with rhyming text and repetitive writing that young readers will love!
Follow along as friends go for a nature walk and see what they find!

20. Pumpkin Hill
We checked this out from our library in audiobook format with the read along book and really enjoyed it.
Pumpkin Hill is about a town being overrun with pumpkins and will have your little kids laughing!
21. Touch and Feel Fall
This is one of my daughter’s favorite fall books right now (she’s 2 years old).
It has lots of fun things to feel on each page and shows simple pictures of fall items.
