Do you like to see how other people decorate for the holidays?
This is one of my favorite things, so I love to share how we decorate with you. We just got our Christmas decor up and I love how cozy it makes our home feel. I’ll show you how we decorated – just for fun!
The Little Frugal House 2019 Christmas Home Tour
Our home is very small, which is sometimes a blessing. Less to decorate and less to clean!
I do have fun decorating our living room and kitchen, and adding small touches of Christmas decor in other areas.
Nothing here is crazy fancy and I know we won’t ever be featured in a magazine for our amazing home decor. But, I love it and it makes me happy and makes me love our home even more.
And, I think that’s what decorating for the holidays is really all about. Enjoying your home and family, whatever that looks like.
So, don’t worry about having the perfect theme or perfect decorations. Just enjoy what you have and do the best with what you have!
Most of our decorations are hand me downs or gifts we’ve been given, which makes it so special.
If you aren’t happy with your decor or want to find some new items to add in, check after Christmas sales and don’t be afraid to shop used items from antique stores, thrift stores, or Facebook marketplace.
Ok, here goes for our little Christmas home tour! 🙂
Christmas Home Tour
Funny story about the tree… We decided to get a new tree this year that better fit out space.
Our old tree was beautiful, but just too large for our small living room. We had to move furniture around and it was just crowded.
So, we found this new tree that was the perfect size. I plugged it in one morning and the thing starts slowly spinning. Freaked me and the dogs out! I have never had a rotating tree before, and had no idea I had bought one.
We are going to keep her in a still position.
Our ornaments are very assorted and hold tons of memories. Lots are from our childhood, many have been given as gifts, and several as special ornaments we got for our new home, our first married Christmas, and such.
I will probably never have a perfectly styled tree with a color theme!
I also really love our old villages and have fun arranging them every year. To be honest, this is only about half of them. I decided not to crowd our home and just to pick a few favorites to put out this year.
Another one of my favorite Christmas decorations are these Santas. Everyone in our family has one, if not 10.
I just kind of scatter them around. My husband said the Santa with the wooden spoon looks like he is about to hit someone if they get a cookie from the jar and now it makes me laugh every time I look over there.
Outside, we kept it pretty simple and just added greenery to things we already had out.
Nothing crazy, but that’s what we did this year for Christmas. I love the way it looks cozy, without feeling cluttered.
We have more decorations that we didn’t put out, just because it would feel cramped. So, we just picked our favorites. And maybe next year we will decorate with some different things we have.
I’m a big fan of using what you have and not buying new decorations for every holiday. It keeps things simple, affordable, and more meaningful.
If you do want to buy new decor, be sure to shop after Christmas sales and check antique stores, thrift stores, yard sales, and Facebook marketplace for great deals.
I hope you have a Merry Christmas!
