These ground beef freezer meals are very simple, with just a few ingredients, so you can quickly fill up your freezer for busy nights ahead.
I like to stick to one meat when I make freezer meals so I don’t use so many dishes, and I can cook meat for several different recipes at once. It makes it a lot quicker!
You only need a few ingredients for this ground beef freezer cooking plan, and you may already have most of it on hand!
I made and portioned these freezer meals for the two of us, so feel free to double or triple the plan or just portion things differently for your family size.
And if this plan doesn’t sound like a good fit for your family, use some of your family’s favorite meals and make a double batch, and stick one in the freezer for another meal. Do this often, and you’ll have a freezer stocked up with ready to go meals for busy nights.

1. Brown 2 lbs ground beef.
Place 2 lbs of ground beef in a large skillet to brown.
2. Start the spaghetti sauce.
Make the spaghetti sauce by adding 2 29 oz cans tomato sauce, 1 14.5 oz can diced tomatoes, 1/2 tsp chili powder, 1 tsp basil, 1 tsp oregano, 1 tsp garlic powder, and 1/2 tsp onion powder to a large pot on medium low heat. Mix and let simmer.
3. Start the taco soup.
Make the taco soup by adding a 10 oz can of Rotel, 15 oz can of corn, 15 oz can black beans, 1 taco seasoning packet, and 1 cup of chicken broth (or water) to a pot on medium low heat. Mix and let simmer.
4. Start the chili.
Make the chili by adding 2 15 oz cans pinto beans, 2 15 oz cans kidney beans, a 10 oz can of Rotel, 1 tsp chili powder, 1 tsp cumin, 1/2 tsp onion powder, 1/2 tsp garlic powder, 1/2 tsp basil, and 1/2 tsp oregano to a pot on medium low heat. Mix and let simmer.
5. Put ravioli in dish.
I only had 1/2 a bag of ravioli to use. If you have a full bag and want to make 2 dishes of the ravioli bake, you can separate them into 2 dishes.
I like to use the disposable foil pans from Dollar Tree when I can so I don’t have to use up a glass dish.
*Make note of the cook time on the ravioli bag.
6. Make burger and slider patties.
While the beef is browning, and the soup, chili, and sauce are simmering, you can make your burger and slider patties.
I like to use Lawry’s seasoning salt and fresh ground black pepper. Use whatever seasoning you like and 1 lb of ground beef to make 2 burger patties and 4 slider patties.
Again, if you have a larger family, you will want to make more.
Place in freezer bags.
7. Drain grease and add browned ground beef to spaghetti sauce, chili, taco soup.
When your ground beef is browned, drain the grease and add the meat to the spaghetti sauce, chili, and taco soup, saving some for the ravioli bake.
I didn’t measure this, just eyeball until it looks good to you. These types of recipes don’t need a lot of meat, so you can stretch 2 lbs pretty far.
8. Mix browned ground beef with pasta sauce and pour over ravioli.
Mix the remaining ground beef with the jar of pasta sauce and pour over the ravioli in the dish.
Sprinkle with the shredded Italian cheese.
9. Brown remaining 1 lb of ground beef.
Use the same skillet to brown the remaining pound of ground beef.
While this is browning, you can stir everything else and get your freezer containers ready to pack everything up.
10. Drain grease and add taco seasoning.
When the beef is browned, drain the grease and leave the meat in the pan.
Mix a taco seasoning packet with 3/4 cup of water, and pour into the pan with the beef and mix. Let simmer.
11. Divide into freezer containers, label, and put in freezer.
Divide your meals into portions that best suit your family. Label everything and put away in the freezer.
For the 2 of us, I got 34 servings:
- 5 containers of spaghetti sauce = 10 servings
- 4 containers of chili = 8 servings
- 3 containers of taco soup = 6 servings
- 2 containers of taco meat = 4 servings
- 1 ravioli bake = 2 servings (with a little leftover)
- 2 burger patties = 2 servings
- 4 slider patties = 2 servings
That’s a total of 34 servings, or 17 meals for the 2 of us.
And 17 times, dinner is ready to just heat up and serve! 🙂
Here’s how to finish the meals when you are ready to serve them:
Spaghetti sauce: Heat in pan, boil noodles, add a side like salad or garlic bread
Chili: Heat and serve. Add a side like cornbread or grilled cheese.
Taco soup: Heat and serve. Add your favorite toppings like shredded cheese, sour cream, tortilla strips.
Taco meat: Heat and serve. Use for tacos, nachos, burritos, or taco salads.
Ravioli bake: Bake according to directions on the ravioli bag. I usually bake mine at 350 for 40-45 minutes. Serve with a salad and roll.
Burgers and sliders: Ready to grill. I like to use our Cuisinart griddler to grill burgers inside.
