Looking for unique, non tech gift ideas and toys for toddler boys and girls? In this gift guide, I’m sharing our favorite simple, non electronic toddler gifts to give this Christmas or for birthday presents!
Wondering “What is a cool gift for a 2 year old?” These are some of our favorite no-tech toys and activities that your toddler will love, too!
We practice Montessori principles in our home, so with toys, we like to keep them simple, with no batteries, educational, and entertaining for our daughter. Young kids and babies love working with different activities and don’t need all electronic toys.
Here are some great gift ideas for babies and toddlers this Christmas season or for fun birthday presents!
20 Best Non Electronic Toddler Gifts
These gift ideas will encourage learning and be fun for years to come!
We love to buy toys that will hold up well over the years, so we tend to buy more wooden and durable toys. Sometimes those toys cost a little more, but they will last longer. And we like to keep less toys, and only those that my daughter enjoys. So, quality over quantity!
A great budget friendly option is to check second hand places like Facebook marketplace or consignment sales for great quality toddler toys for a fraction of the price!
Our Favorite No-Tech Toddler Toys and Gifts:
1. Animal Figurines
Animal figurines are a great simple toy for toddler boys and girls. We have farm and zoo animals mostly, and love to match them up to pictures and talk about the noises they make.
The Schleich brand animal figurines are our very favorite!
2. Carrot Shape Sorting Activity
This activity helps young kids sort different sizes and shapes, and it’s fun for them to pull the carrots out and put them back.
Our daughter loves her carrot shape sorting activity!
3. Shape sorter
A shape sorter is a perfect gift for a toddler wanting to learn all about shapes and colors.
4. Peg Board Set
This peg board toy can be used a few ways. My daughter loves to put the pegs in the peg board, and stake them together really high.
5. Baby Doll
Baby dolls are a perfect gift for toddlers. My daughter loves to put her baby doll in the little baby doll stroller and push her around, and give her a little bottle.
6. Hammering Activity
My daughter has loved her hammering toy and the pull our xylophone! It’s great for hand eye coordination and to see what different noises they can make.
This hammering and music toy is a fun activity that can be used a few ways.
7. Tickets to the zoo or an aquarium
If you want to give an experience gift instead of a toy, tickets to the zoo or an aquarium would be so fun for a young toddler!
We took my daughter to the zoo (17 months old at the time) and she loved it! We took her animal figurines to match up, and she loved looking at the animals and exploring everything. She stood in front of the fish tank for a long time, so I think the aquarium would be really fun, too!
8. Race Car Ramp
A race car ramp is on our list to get for our daughter – she loves to see how things move, so I think this would be so fun!
This wooden race track looks so fun and has great reviews!
9. Shape Puzzle
Toddlers will start to learn shapes, and this wooden shape puzzle is a fun way to learn all about shapes.
We have a similar puzzle, and my daughter has mastered the circle, working on the square and triangle, then we will move to the other shapes.
10. Busy Board with Buckles
This is a fun toy that will help toddlers develop fine motor skills and learn to dress.
My daughter is very interested in buckles, zippers, and velcro right now, so this busy board toy is on the list!
11. Bee Hive Matching Game
I got my daughter this bee hive matching game for Christmas, so I haven’t given it to her yet, but the quality is great and I think she will love to work with it.
You can work with color matching, fine motor skills, and talk about sounds bees make.
12. Music Instrument Set
Playing and listening to music is so fun for young kids! A music instrument set is such a fun gift for toddler boys and girls.
13. Play food set
This play food set with wooden crates would be such a fun gift idea for toddlers to play farmer’s market, grocery store, pretend shopping, cooking, and more.
14. Pretend Cleaning Set
We have this Melissa & Doug Cleaning Set and my daughter loves it! She actually uses the set for real life purposes, and I show her how to dust, sweep, and mop.
It’s a fun gift for kids, and great practice for real life!
15. Buckle Toy
I just got this whale buckle and zipper toy for my daughter and she loves it! It’s a stuffed animal and a great activity to work with buckles and zippers, too.
16. Wooden Puzzles
We have several wooden Melissa & Doug animal puzzles and love them. They are still a little advanced for my 18 month old daughter now, but she loves playing with them still.
They also have a construction vehicle puzzle that is on our list!
17. Little Wagon
A little wagon for toddlers to push and pull around would be such a fun gift! They can play with a wagon in so many ways!
This Radio Flyer wagon comes with a few beach and garden tools!
18. Books
My daughter loves her books! We plan to get her a new book every Christmas, and regularly add a new book to our selection.
Some favorites are:
19. Stuffed Animal
My daughter really loves stuffed animals right now, so I don’t think you could go wrong with a really cute and soft stuffed animal.
20. Metal Toy Cars
Cars, trucks, construction vehicles, and emergency vehicles are fun for young kids (boys and girls) to play with. You can get a book to go along with them with pictures to match, or that show similar vehicles.
This set of die-cast metal cars looks like a perfect gift!
These non electronic toys are all awesome gifts for 1, 2, and 3 year old boys and girls. We really love the simple, no-tech toys and activities that are entertaining, educational, and encourage learning while still being really fun for young kids.

A lot of these are our daughter’s favorite toys that she can play with for years to come, and several are on our list to get for her for Christmas or her next birthday present.
