Ready to update your front porch?
We love sitting out on the swing and watching the dogs play when the weather is nice. So, I really wanted the front porch to be decorated with things we enjoy and add some interest to the front of our home.
I’m loving the rustic farmhouse look and wanted to carry that outside on the front porch. We have collected various antiques and rustic items over the years and I love to decorate with them to give our home a little character.
Grab your rustic decor, clean off your porch, and get ready for a new front porch farmhouse look! You may be able to get the look you love without spending any money! I didn’t buy anything new!
Front Porch Farmhouse Decor On A Budget
Farmhouse Decor Essentials:
Take a look around your home and see if you already have some of these items before heading to the store!
Milk cans – great to find at estate sales!
Wagon wheels – Look on Facebook Marketplace or a farm estate sale.
Farmhouse crate – These are great yard sale finds or make your own for free out of pallet wood!
Lanterns – Keep a look out for great deals on these used or shop Hobby Lobby when they are 50% off!
Old chair – I’ve found multiple old chairs for less than $10 at yard sales. You can paint and distress them for a cute farmhouse look!
Shopping used will save you a ton of money and more often, you will get better quality pieces. Head out to some yard sales or estate sales and keep a look out for great rustic farmhouse finds!
I also love to browse Facebook Marketplace. It’s really easy to message people and negotiate prices.
Front Porch Farmhouse Decorating
This pallet wood farmhouse crate was a free DIY project. My husband found the wagon wheel and milk can – love those!
Decorate your porch:
Find an antique milk can, wagon wheel, crate, or wagon. Add in branches, cotton, flower pots, galvanized metal buckets, and farmhouse signs.
The yellow chair was another yard sale find. The seat was broken, so I added a pallet wood seat, painted it yellow, and distressed it. I have a lot of fun moving it around and decorating it for different seasons!
The little wreath was a simple $3 Dollar Tree DIY project. I found the rug at a discount store for $4.
Decorate your porch:
Hit some yard sales to find an old wooden chair and paint it a fun color. Grab a new rug and make your own wreath for $3! Add burlap, a lantern, or a small crate with flowers.
My blue front door may be my favorite thing about our house. I don’t decorate too seriously and I love adding pops of color. My Mom makes the best wreaths and they always look so colorful on our door.
Decorate your porch:
Paint your front door a fun color! Add a wreath or burlap door hanger and a Welcome sign. Make your own Welcome sign out of barn wood or a 2″x 8″ piece of wood.
This little bistro table set was a yard sale find. It’s the perfect size for our small front porch.
Decorate your porch:
Look for a fixer upper piece at a yard sale or for a more rustic look, look for a wooden bench or church pew. Add burlap pillows, lanterns, and flower pots.
This is another old chair we found from a yard sale. A handwoven grapevine wreath, lantern, and $1 flower tin bucket add lots of farmhouse tones and textures.
Decorate your porch:
Look for an old chair, add some white paint, and distress it. Add different textures like burlap, barn wood crates, metal buckets, lanterns, grapevine, flower pots, or cotton stems.
Another milk can find and vintage crate prop up on the other post by the swing. I love these old pieces!
Decorate your porch:
Scour your home for anything rustic, old, and worn. Check yard sales, estate sales, and online for great deals on antiques and rustic items. Have fun moving things around and adding little groups of pieces around your porch and home.
When it gets a little warmer, I’ll be adding in flower pots and a fern. I love having more pops of color with flowers and plants.
A front porch farmhouse look doesn’t have to cost too much, or anything at all. My first decorating rule is to use what I already have. Sometimes, that’s all you need!
Look around your home and buy used if you can. Find pieces you love that are full of character and personality. And have fun decorating!

I really like how you talk about getting home decor on a budget. This is something that my wife and I have been wanting to do, is decorate our house without spending a ton of money. We are thinking of going for a more rustic feel and maybe getting things like wagon wheels to put up around the house.
