I love planning my meals ahead of time. It makes me feel prepared for the week ahead, and makes dinnertime so much easier.
We know exactly what we are eating. There is no rummaging through the fridge or debating going out to eat.
I truly believe planning your meals ahead of time will create less stress in your life and save you a lot of money.
I made a simple DIY menu board to make planning our meals so much easier. This DIY requires zero tools and only about 10 minutes of time.
DIY Menu Board – No Tools Required!
Supplies Needed:
- Corkboard
- Scrapbook or construction paper
- Markers
- Thumbtacks
- Small plastic bin (I got mine from Dollar Tree in a pack of 2)
Directions:
-
Write your menu title and the days of the week on scrapbook paper.
You can be as basic or as fancy with this as you prefer.
-
Write your family’s favorite meals on strips of paper.
Think of all of your family’s favorite meals and write them down on strips of paper.
-
Tack your days on the corkboard.
Place all of your days of the week on the corkboard and use thumbtacks to secure them.
-
Add your plastic bin.
I love this plastic bin from Dollar Tree, because I could just add thumbtacks to hold it in place.
-
Put your meals in the bin.
Use the bin to put your favorite meals in. Make sure to add extra slips of paper and a marker for new meal ideas!
-
Plan a meal for each day.
Choose a meal from the bin for each day of the week. You can easily swap them around.
This DIY menu board was so easy to make, and my favorite part was that it required zero tools and very little time. But the finished product will be so useful and functional.
Get your family involved, and let them help plan the meals for the week! If everyone is on board with the menu plan, it will be that much easier to stick to.

Love this simple idea. Do you laminate them? Do they last a long time?
